Description

These festive 4th of July Oreos are a quick and easy patriotic dessert perfect for summer parties or potlucks. Coated in smooth white chocolate and decorated with red, white, and blue sprinkles, these treats are ready in under 30 minutes and sure to impress your guests.

Ingredients

Oreos and Coating

  • 12 Oreos
  • 2 ¼ cups white chocolate chips
  • Red, white, and blue sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Melt the White Chocolate: Place white chocolate chips in a medium-sized bowl. Microwave in 20-second increments, stirring well between each until completely melted and smooth.
  2. Prepare the Mold: Using a spoon, fill each mold about one-third full with melted white chocolate.
  3. Add the Oreos: Place an Oreo on top of the white chocolate in each mold. Gently press down the cookie until the sides become coated with chocolate.
  4. Coat the Top: Spoon roughly one tablespoon of melted chocolate over each cookie. Use a toothpick to spread the chocolate evenly, ensuring the cookie is fully covered.
  5. Smooth the Surface: Tap the mold gently to even out the coating and create a smooth top layer.
  6. Set the Chocolate: Chill the mold in the refrigerator for up to 15 minutes, or leave at room temperature for about 30 minutes until the chocolate hardens.
  7. Reheat Chocolate for Drizzling: Warm the remaining chocolate again in the microwave in 20-second increments, stirring each time until smooth.
  8. Drizzle the Cookies: Transfer melted chocolate to a sandwich bag, cut a small hole at the tip, and drizzle the chocolate over the hardened cookies.
  9. Add Sprinkles: While the drizzle is still wet, sprinkle red, white, and blue sprinkles on top. Work quickly as the white chocolate hardens fast; you may need to add sprinkles immediately after drizzling each cookie.

Notes

  • If the melted chocolate is too thick, stir in ½ teaspoon of coconut or vegetable oil to thin it slightly without affecting texture. Add more if necessary.
  • Avoid overheating the chocolate to prevent it from becoming grainy or seizing, which would require starting over.
  • Ensure all utensils, the bowl, and molds are completely dry before starting; even a tiny drop of water can cause chocolate to seize.
