Ingredients
Salmon and Seasoning
- 4 (5-ounce) skinless salmon fillets
- ½ teaspoon ground pepper, divided
- ¼ cup salt-free everything bagel seasoning
- 3 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil, divided
- ½ teaspoon salt plus ⅛ teaspoon, divided
Garlic-Yogurt Sauce
- 1 cup nonfat plain strained (Greek-style) yogurt
- 2 medium cloves garlic, minced
Cucumber Topping
- 1 small Persian cucumber, finely chopped
Instructions
- Prepare the Salmon: Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Sprinkle ¼ teaspoon of ground pepper evenly over the fillets. Spread the everything bagel seasoning on a shallow plate, then dredge each salmon fillet in the seasoning, pressing gently to coat all sides thoroughly.
- Cook the Salmon: Heat 2 tablespoons of extra-virgin olive oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat. Place the seasoned salmon fillets in the skillet and cook, turning occasionally, until the seasoning is browned on all sides and an instant-read thermometer inserted into the thickest part reads 125°F to 130°F for medium doneness, about 10 to 12 minutes. Sprinkle with ¼ teaspoon salt before removing from heat.
- Make the Garlic-Yogurt Sauce: In a small bowl, combine the Greek yogurt, minced garlic, ¼ teaspoon salt, the remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil, and the remaining ¼ teaspoon ground pepper. Stir until the sauce is smooth and well blended.
- Prepare the Cucumber: Combine the finely chopped Persian cucumber and the remaining ¼ teaspoon salt in a medium bowl. Let it stand for about 2 minutes until it becomes slightly softened and glossy.
- Assemble and Serve: Spread the garlic-yogurt sauce evenly on a large serving platter with the back of a spoon. Spoon the salted cucumber mixture over the yogurt sauce, then top with the cooked everything bagel–crusted salmon fillets. Serve immediately.
Notes
- The garlic-yogurt sauce can be made ahead and refrigerated in an airtight container for up to 2 days. Stir well before serving.
- Use a nonstick skillet to ensure the seasoning crust sticks and cooks evenly without sticking.
- Check salmon doneness with an instant-read thermometer to avoid overcooking and maintain moist texture.
- Salt-free everything bagel seasoning helps control sodium content but can be substituted with regular everything bagel seasoning if desired.
- For extra crispiness, press the seasoning firmly onto the salmon before cooking.
