- 1/4 cup sugar-free maple-flavored syrup (such as Pyure®)
- 3/4 cup water
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon banana extract
- 1/2 teaspoon maple extract
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Latte:
- 1/2 cup hot coffee
- 1/2 cup hot milk
- 3 tablespoons homemade banana syrup, or to taste
- 1/4 teaspoon banana extract
Banana Cream Foam:
- 1/4 cup heavy whipping cream
- 1 tablespoon homemade banana syrup
Caramelized Bananas:
- 2 teaspoons butter
- 1/2 medium banana, sliced
- 1 tablespoon sugar-free maple-flavored syrup (such as Pyure®)
Instructions
- Gather Ingredients: Collect all necessary ingredients for the homemade banana syrup, latte, banana cream foam, and caramelized bananas.
- Make Homemade Banana Syrup: In a saucepan over medium-low heat, combine sliced bananas, brown sugar substitute, and sugar-free maple syrup. Stir until the sugars dissolve completely. Add water, increase heat to bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat and let it simmer for 12 to 15 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in salt, cinnamon, banana extract, maple extract, and vanilla extract. Use an immersion blender to blend the syrup until smooth and well combined.
- Prepare Banana Cream Foam: In a glass, combine the heavy whipping cream and 1 tablespoon of the homemade banana syrup. Use a frother to beat until foamy and light in texture.
- Caramelize Bananas: Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and melt the butter. Stir in the sugar-free maple-flavored syrup, then arrange the banana slices in a single layer. Cook for 3 to 5 minutes, turning if needed, until bananas are golden brown and caramelized.
- Combine Latte: Pour hot coffee into a mug. In a separate cup, combine 3 tablespoons of banana syrup, 1/4 teaspoon banana extract, and hot milk. Stir well and pour this mixture over the coffee.
- Assemble and Serve: Top the latte with the prepared banana cream foam and garnish with the caramelized bananas. Serve immediately and enjoy.
Notes
- For an iced version, prepare all components up to the caramelized bananas. Instead of hot milk and coffee, fill a glass with ice, and add 1/2 cup cold milk and 1/2 cup cold coffee. Top with banana cream foam and caramelized bananas.
- You can adjust the sweetness by adding more or less banana syrup according to taste.
- The brown sugar substitute and sugar-free maple syrup options make this latte suitable for those monitoring sugar intake.
- Use fresh ripe bananas for better flavor and natural sweetness in your syrup.
- Immersion blender helps achieve a smooth syrup texture; alternatively, blend in a regular blender carefully after cooling slightly.
