Ingredients
Blackberry Components
- 1 cup blackberry curd
- ½ cup blackberry syrup
- 1 tbsp Chambord or other blackberry liqueur (optional)
Cream Mixture
- 8 oz mascarpone cheese (room temperature)
- ¾ cup heavy cream (double cream or whipping cream)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 pinch salt
Base Layer
- Ladyfingers (Savoiardi or sponge fingers) – quantity depends on the size of your serving dish
Instructions
- Prepare Ingredients: Gather all ingredients including blackberry curd and syrup, ensuring both are ready and cooled if homemade.
- Whip Cream: In a large bowl, beat the heavy cream with vanilla extract until stiff peaks form, being careful not to overbeat to maintain a light texture.
- Mix Mascarpone: In another bowl, whisk mascarpone, half of the blackberry curd, and a pinch of salt gently to avoid graininess.
- Combine Cream and Mascarpone: Fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until smoothly incorporated, then set aside.
- Soak Ladyfingers: Briefly dip each ladyfinger into the blackberry syrup mixed with liqueur if using, flipping to soak evenly without making them mushy, then layer them in your serving dish.
- Add Cream Layer: Spoon and spread half of the cream mixture evenly over the soaked ladyfingers layer.
- Second Ladyfinger Layer: Repeat the dipping and arranging of ladyfingers on top of the cream layer to form a second base.
- Final Cream Layer: Spread the remaining cream mixture smoothly over the second ladyfinger layer.
- Chill: Cover the tiramisu with plastic wrap pressed gently onto the cream to prevent skin formation, then refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
- Serve and Garnish: Before serving, spread the remaining blackberry curd on top and garnish with fresh berries for a beautiful finish.
Notes
- Ensure mascarpone is at room temperature to achieve a smooth mixture.
- Do not over-soak ladyfingers to prevent sogginess.
- The dessert benefits from chilling overnight for the best flavor melding and texture.
- Chambord or another blackberry liqueur is optional but adds a lovely depth of flavor.
- Use fresh blackberries as garnish for added visual appeal and freshness.
