Description

Delicious Cajun Shrimp Deviled Eggs combining classic deviled egg creaminess with a spicy Cajun shrimp twist, perfect for parties and appetizers.

Ingredients

Eggs

  • 12 large eggs

Shrimp and Seasoning

  • 1/2 pounds small to medium shrimp
  • 2 teaspoons Cajun seasoning (divided)
  • 1 tablespoon paprika (for garnish)
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme

Deviled Egg Mixture

  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon white vinegar
  • Kosher salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste

Garnish

  • Fresh parsley (finely chopped)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Cajun Seasoning Mix: In a small bowl, combine paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, cayenne pepper, dried oregano, and dried thyme. Mix well. You will use 2 teaspoons for the recipe.
  2. Boil the Eggs: Place the eggs in a pot and cover with water about 1 inch above the eggs. Bring to a boil, then cover the pot, remove from heat, and let stand for 12 minutes. Afterward, transfer the eggs to an ice water bath to cool thoroughly, then peel.
  3. Cook the Shrimp: Rinse the shrimp if uncooked. Boil them for 2-3 minutes or until they turn pink and opaque. Immediately transfer to cold water to stop cooking. Peel and devein the shrimp. Reserve one shrimp per egg whole for garnish and chop the rest for mixing.
  4. Prepare the Yolks: Halve the peeled eggs lengthwise. Carefully remove the yolks and place them in a bowl. Arrange the egg whites on a serving platter.
  5. Make the Deviled Egg Filling: Mash the yolks until smooth. Add mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, 1 teaspoon of the homemade Cajun seasoning mix, and white vinegar. Stir until creamy and well combined. Season with kosher salt and pepper to taste. Fold in the chopped shrimp gently.
  6. Fill the Egg Whites: Spoon or pipe the shrimp-yolk mixture into the hollowed egg whites evenly.
  7. Garnish the Deviled Eggs: Toss the reserved whole shrimp with the remaining 1 teaspoon of Cajun seasoning to coat well. Place one shrimp atop each deviled egg. Lightly sprinkle with paprika and garnish with finely chopped fresh parsley for a vibrant finish.

Notes

  • Use fresh or thawed shrimp for best flavor and texture.
  • Allow eggs to cool completely before peeling for easier handling.
  • Adjust the amount of Cajun seasoning to control spice level.
  • Mayonnaise can be substituted with Greek yogurt for a lighter version.
  • Perfect for parties, gatherings, or as a flavorful appetizer.
