Ingredients
Pizza Bombs
- 1 can (8-count) Southern Homestyle buttermilk biscuits (not flaky)
- 1 cup (257 g) pizza sauce, divided
- ½ cup (69 g) mini pepperoni slices, divided
- 4 ounces mozzarella cheese, cut into 16 equal-sized cubes, divided
Garlic Butter
- ¼ cup (½ stick / 57 g) unsalted butter, melted
- ¼ teaspoon garlic salt
- ¼ teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 2 tablespoons parmesan cheese, grated
Instructions
- Preheat Oven and Prepare Skillet: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and spray a 12-inch oven-safe skillet with nonstick cooking spray to ensure the pizza bombs don't stick during baking.
- Flatten Biscuits: Remove the 8 buttermilk biscuits from the can and place them on a clean work surface. Using a rolling pin, flatten each biscuit to about ⅛-inch thickness to make wrapping easier.
- Add Fillings: Spread 1 tablespoon of pizza sauce evenly over each flattened biscuit. Then, top each with 1 tablespoon of mini pepperoni slices and 2 cubes of mozzarella cheese.
- Form Pizza Bombs: Carefully fold the edges of each biscuit together, pinching them tightly to seal all the fillings inside without any holes or gaps. Place each sealed bomb seam side down into the prepared skillet. Repeat with remaining biscuits.
- Bake: Place the skillet in the preheated oven and bake for 20 to 22 minutes, or until the biscuits turn golden brown and the cheese inside is melted and bubbly.
- Prepare Garlic Butter: While the pizza bombs are baking, mix together the melted unsalted butter, garlic salt, Italian seasoning, and grated parmesan cheese in a small bowl.
- Brush Garlic Butter: Once the pizza bombs are out of the oven, immediately brush the garlic butter mixture generously over their tops for extra flavor and a glossy finish.
- Serve: Serve the pizza bombs warm with the remaining pizza sauce on the side for dipping. Enjoy your delicious homemade snack!
Notes
- Using Southern Homestyle buttermilk biscuits works best as they are not flaky and hold the filling well.
- You can substitute pepperoni with any preferred pizza toppings like cooked sausage or veggies.
- If you don’t have a skillet, a baking dish can be used, but baking time might vary slightly.
- Make sure to seal the biscuit edges tightly to prevent filling from leaking during baking.
- Brush the garlic butter right after baking for the best absorption and flavor.
