Description
Crispy and tangy Dill Pickle Potato Chips made by marinating thinly sliced russet potatoes in pickle juice and dried dill, then air frying them to perfection. This flavorful homemade snack pairs wonderfully with ranch dressing and is easy to prepare with simple ingredients.
Ingredients
Potato Chips
- 1 large russet potato
- 1.5 cups pickle juice
- 3 tsp dried dill (split into 2 tsp and 1 tsp)
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp salt (adjust for salt preference)
Dipping (Optional)
- Ranch dressing
Instructions
- Prepare Potatoes: Rinse the outside of the russet potato thoroughly. Using a sharp knife or a mandolin, carefully slice the potato into very thin pieces, as thin as possible, to ensure crispiness.
- Marinate Potatoes: Place the sliced potatoes in a large bowl and pour the pickle juice over them. Add 2 teaspoons of dried dill and gently mix to coat all slices evenly. Let the potatoes marinate for 1 hour at room temperature, flipping halfway through to ensure all slices get well marinated. For stronger flavor, you can marinate overnight.
- Season Potatoes: Drain the marinated potato slices well. Sprinkle the remaining 1 teaspoon of dried dill, garlic powder, and salt over the drained potatoes. Toss gently to evenly coat all slices with the seasoning.
- Air Fry Chips: Preheat your air fryer at 400°F for 2-3 minutes. Arrange the seasoned potato slices in a single layer inside the air fryer basket, making sure they do not overlap. Cook for 14 to 20 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through cooking to ensure even crisping. Depending on your air fryer size, you may need to cook in batches.
- Serve and Store: Enjoy the chips immediately with ranch dressing or on their own. Store leftover chips in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. To restore crispiness if they soften, reheat in the air fryer for 1-2 minutes before serving.
Notes
- For extra crispiness, slice potatoes as thinly as possible using a mandolin.
- Marinating overnight intensifies the dill pickle flavor.
- Adjust salt according to the saltiness of your pickle juice and personal preference.
- Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket; cook in batches if necessary for even cooking.
- Store chips properly in airtight containers to maintain freshness.
