Description
These Easy S'Mores Bars are a delightful twist on the classic campfire treat, featuring a buttery graham cracker crust topped with gooey marshmallows and melted chocolate chips. Soft, chewy, and perfectly sweet, these bars are simple to prepare and bake, making them a perfect dessert for any occasion.
Ingredients
Crust
- 9 graham cracker squares
- ½ cup butter, melted
- ½ cup brown sugar
Topping
- 2 cups miniature marshmallows
- 1 ½ cups chocolate chips
Instructions
- Prepare the pan and crust: Gather all your ingredients and preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Line an 8x8-inch square pan with aluminum foil, leaving about a 1-inch overhang on the sides for easy removal of the bars later. Crumble the graham crackers inside a bag until you have fine crumbs, then pour them into a mixing bowl.
- Mix the crust ingredients: Add the melted butter and brown sugar to the graham cracker crumbs. Stir well until all the ingredients are thoroughly combined and the mixture feels like wet sand. Press this mixture evenly and firmly into the bottom of the prepared pan to form the crust base.
- Bake the crust: Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for approximately 7 minutes, or until the crust becomes lightly browned and emits a toasted aroma. This ensures a crisp and sturdy base for your s'mores bars.
- Add marshmallows and chocolate: Remove the pan from the oven and evenly spread the miniature marshmallows over the warm crust. Then sprinkle the chocolate chips evenly over the marshmallows, creating a gooey, melty topping.
- Finish baking: Return the pan to the oven and bake for an additional 3 minutes, just enough time for the marshmallows to brown slightly and the chocolate chips to melt perfectly.
- Cool and set the bars: Take the pan out of the oven and allow the s'mores bars to rest at room temperature for about 30 minutes to cool down. Following this, place the pan in the refrigerator and chill for about 45 minutes until the bars are set and firm enough to cut.
- Serve: Using the aluminum foil overhang, lift the set s'mores bars from the pan and transfer to a cutting board. Cut into 12 equal squares and enjoy!
Notes
- You can use the broiler to melt the marshmallow and chocolate layer instead of baking the second time; just watch carefully to avoid burning.
- Ensure the crust is pressed firmly to avoid crumbling when serving.
- Store leftover bars in an airtight container in the refrigerator to maintain freshness.
