This Easy Taco Recipe Dinner Board is a fun and interactive way to serve tacos, perfect for gatherings and parties. It features seasoned ground turkey cooked with onions, warm cheese-filled taco shells baked to perfection, and an assortment of fresh toppings and salsas arranged beautifully on a large board for customize-your-own taco enjoyment.

Ingredients

Meat and Taco Shells

  • 30 taco shells
  • 2 Tbsp. olive oil
  • 1 medium sweet onion, chopped
  • 2 pounds ground turkey
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Cheese and Vegetables

  • 1 pound Tillamook Mexican 4-Cheese blend
  • 1 (16 oz.) package shredded lettuce
  • 6 Roma tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 sliced red onion

Salsas and Extras

  • 1 cup salsa
  • 1 cup corn salsa (Trader Joe’s)
  • 1 cup guacamole
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup Pepita salsa (Trader Joe’s)
  • 1 can sliced olives
  • 1 jar LaVictoria Salsa
  • 1 jar Cholula Salsa
  • Cilantro for garnish
  • Favorite tortilla chips
  • Habanero pepper (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the vegetable toppings: On a large food-safe board or tray, place a bowl in the center and fill it with the shredded lettuce and chopped Roma tomatoes.
  2. Set up salsa and dips: Place small bowls around the board filled with your favorite salsa, guacamole, sour cream, olives, and corn salsa to offer a variety of flavors for your tacos.
  3. Arrange taco shells: Leave enough space around the outside edges of the board to arrange the 30 taco shells later on.
  4. Cook the ground turkey: Heat the olive oil in a large frying pan over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook for about 10 minutes until tender. Add the ground turkey and the taco seasoning pack. Cook until the meat is fully browned and cooked through. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Warm and fill the taco shells: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Fill each taco shell with the cooked ground turkey and sprinkle with the Tillamook Mexican 4-Cheese blend. Place the filled taco shells on a baking sheet and bake for about 5 minutes until the cheese melts and the shells are warm.
  6. Assemble the dinner board: Arrange the baked tacos around the outside of the board. Fill in any open spaces with tortilla chips and bottles of hot sauce such as LaVictoria Salsa and Cholula Salsa.
  7. Garnish and serve: Add sliced red onions, cilantro, and habanero peppers as garnish for extra flavor and spice. Serve immediately and enjoy the interactive taco dinner board experience.

Notes

  • You can substitute ground turkey with ground beef or chicken if preferred.
  • For a vegetarian option, use seasoned beans or a plant-based meat substitute instead of ground turkey.
  • Feel free to customize the toppings with avocado slices, jalapeños, or pickled vegetables.
  • If you prefer softer taco shells, warm them wrapped in foil without filling for 5 minutes before serving.
  • Leftover taco filling can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
