Description

Leprechaun Bait is a festive, colorful snack mix combining crunchy cereals, pretzels, and sweet marshmallows all coated in creamy white chocolate. Perfect for St. Patrick's Day celebrations, this no-bake treat offers a fun and easy-to-make combination of salty, sweet, and crunchy textures that kids and adults alike will enjoy.

Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 3 cups Chex cereal
  • 1 cup pretzel squares or twists
  • 1 1/2 cups Lucky Charms cereal
  • 2/3 cup green and yellow M&M’s, plus more for garnish
  • 1/2 cup Lucky Charms marshmallows, plus more for garnish

Wet Ingredients

  • 8 oz white chocolate bark or melting wafers
  • 1 tablespoon powdered sugar (optional)

Instructions

  1. Gather Ingredients: Collect all the required ingredients to have everything ready before starting.
  2. Combine Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, toss together Chex cereal, Lucky Charms cereal, pretzel squares, and half of the green and yellow M&M’s until evenly mixed.
  3. Melt White Chocolate: Melt the white chocolate bark or melting wafers in the microwave using 30-second intervals, stirring between each until fully melted and smooth. If desired, stir in the powdered sugar for added sweetness and texture.
  4. Coat Mixture: Spread the dry cereal mixture evenly on a baking sheet, then drizzle the melted white chocolate over it. Transfer the coated mixture back into a large bowl and stir thoroughly until all pieces are evenly coated with white chocolate.
  5. Set and Garnish: Return the coated mixture onto the baking sheet and spread it into a single layer. Sprinkle the top evenly with the reserved Lucky Charms marshmallows and M&M’s. Place the baking sheet in the freezer for 5 to 10 minutes or until the white chocolate hardens and sets the mixture.
  6. Serve: Break the hardened mixture into smaller pieces and place into a serving bowl. Garnish with extra Lucky Charms marshmallows and additional M&M’s for a festive finishing touch.

Notes

  • Using the freezer helps the white chocolate set quickly, making the mixture easier to break apart and serve.
  • For a gluten-free version, ensure the cereals and pretzels are certified gluten-free.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week to maintain freshness.
  • Feel free to customize by adding other colorful candies or nuts based on preference.
