Ingredients
Main Ingredients
- 4 slices Bread (white, whole wheat, or gluten-free)
- 4 tbsp Nutella (room temperature)
- 1 tbsp Butter (or cooking spray)
- 1 pinch Salt (optional, enhances flavor)
Optional Fillings and Toppings
- Sliced banana (for variation)
- Strawberries (diced fresh)
- Mini marshmallows (fun add-in)
- Chopped hazelnuts (for crunchy texture)
- Cinnamon powder (warm spice flavor)
- Powdered sugar (for dusting after cooking)
Instructions
- Flatten Bread: Using a rolling pin, gently flatten each slice of bread to make it easier to fold and create a thinner, crispier toast pie.
- Add Filling: Spread 1 tablespoon of Nutella on one half of each flattened bread slice. Add any optional fillings such as sliced banana, diced strawberries, mini marshmallows, or chopped hazelnuts on top of the Nutella. Sprinkle a pinch of salt if desired to enhance flavors.
- Seal Edges: Fold the bread over to cover the filling and form a half-moon shape. Press the edges firmly and seal them by pressing with a fork to prevent the filling from leaking during cooking.
- Cook Until Crispy: Heat a pan over medium heat and melt the butter or lightly grease with cooking spray. Cook each toast pie for 2–3 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy. Alternatively, preheat the air fryer to 350°F (175°C) and cook the pies for 4–5 minutes, flipping halfway through, until crispy.
- Cool and Serve: Remove the toast pies from the pan or air fryer and let them cool slightly on a wire rack. Dust with powdered sugar and a sprinkle of cinnamon powder if desired. Serve warm for the best taste.
Notes
- For gluten-free options, use gluten-free bread slices.
- Make sure the bread is flattened well to ensure even cooking and crispiness.
- Choose fillings based on preferences; bananas and strawberries add freshness while marshmallows provide gooey sweetness.
- Cooking in an air fryer can yield a slightly lighter texture compared to pan-frying.
- Store leftover toast pies in an airtight container and reheat in a toaster oven for crispiness.
