Description
A refreshing Raspberry Iced Tea recipe that combines the robust flavor of black tea with the natural sweetness and tartness of raspberries. Easy to prepare, this iced tea is perfect for hot days and serves 8, offering a fruity twist on a classic beverage.
Ingredients
Tea Base
- 4 cups water
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 4 black tea bags
Raspberry Syrup
- 4 cups water
- 2 pints raspberries (or 4 cups frozen)
For Serving
- Fresh raspberries (optional)
- Lemon slices (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the Tea: In a large saucepan, bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Stir in the sugar until fully dissolved. Add the tea bags and steep the tea for 10 minutes to extract a strong flavor. Remove and discard the tea bags, then allow the tea to cool to room temperature. Once cooled, transfer the tea to a large pitcher and refrigerate to chill.
- Make the Raspberry Syrup: In another saucepan, bring the remaining 4 cups of water to a boil. Add the raspberries and then reduce the heat to maintain a gentle simmer. Let the raspberries simmer uncovered for 10 minutes to release their juices. Strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve or cheesecloth to separate the raspberry liquid from the pulp, discarding the solids.
- Combine and Serve: Add the strained raspberry juice to the chilled tea in the pitcher and stir thoroughly to combine the flavors. Serve the raspberry iced tea cold over ice cubes, garnished with fresh raspberries and lemon slices if desired for an extra burst of flavor and color.
Notes
- For a sweeter tea, adjust the sugar quantity to taste.
- If using frozen raspberries, no need to thaw before cooking.
- To make it vegan and paleo-friendly, substitute sugar with honey or agave syrup.
- The raspberry syrup can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- Feel free to use other berry types like strawberries or blueberries for different flavor variations.
