Description
A delicious and easy-to-make Salted Caramel Pretzel Bark combining rich semi-sweet chocolate, crunchy pretzels, and luscious caramel topped with a sprinkle of flaky sea salt. Perfect for a sweet and salty treat that sets quickly and can be shared with friends and family.
Ingredients
Chocolate Layer
- 12 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips (one whole bag)
Pretzel Layer
- 8 oz pretzels (half of a 16-oz bag)
Caramel Layer
- 11 oz Kraft caramel (one whole bag)
- 2 tbsp heavy cream
Topping
- Sea salt (for sprinkling)
Instructions
- Prepare the baking sheet: Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper and set it aside to ensure an easy release of the bark once it is set.
- Melt the chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the semi-sweet chocolate chips in 30-second increments, stirring between each interval until the chocolate is smooth and fully melted.
- Spread chocolate and add pretzels: Spread about two-thirds of the melted chocolate evenly over the parchment paper-lined baking sheet. Place the pretzels on top of the chocolate, pressing them gently to adhere without worrying about perfect placement.
- Melt the caramel: In a separate microwave-safe bowl, combine the Kraft caramel and heavy cream. Microwave for 2 minutes until the caramel is melted and smooth, stirring halfway through if needed.
- Drizzle caramel and chocolate: Drizzle the melted caramel evenly over the pretzels, then drizzle the remaining melted chocolate over the caramel layer to create the signature bark appearance.
- Add sea salt and chill: Sprinkle flaky sea salt over the top of the bark. Place the baking sheet in the fridge to chill until fully set, about 1-2 hours. Alternatively, let it set at room temperature for about 2 hours if preferred.
- Cut and serve: Once set, break or cut the bark into 24 pieces and serve as a delightful sweet and salty snack or dessert.
Notes
- For even melting, stir the chocolate and caramel between microwave intervals to avoid burning.
- Using flaky sea salt enhances the texture and flavor contrast in the bark.
- If you don't have parchment paper, you can use a silicone baking mat instead.
- The bark can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week or refrigerated for longer freshness.
- Feel free to customize by using different types of chocolate or adding nuts for extra crunch.
