Description
A simple and flavorful roasted salmon recipe with fresh lemon and herbs, perfect for a quick and healthy meal that serves eight.
Ingredients
Salmon
- 1 whole salmon fillet or individual fillets (any size)
Seasoning
- 1-2 tablespoons olive oil (as needed)
- 1 whole lemon, sliced
- 1 tablespoon fresh herbs (such as dill, parsley, or thyme)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare Salmon: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a sheet pan with parchment paper or lightly grease it with oil or nonstick spray. Lay the salmon fillet skin side down on the pan. Check for any pin bones using your fingers and remove them with kitchen tweezers if necessary.
- Season the Salmon: Drizzle enough olive oil to lightly cover the surface of the salmon. Evenly space lemon slices on top of the salmon. Sprinkle with fresh herbs, salt, and pepper generously to enhance flavor.
- Bake the Salmon: Place the salmon in the oven and bake until it is cooked through, turns pale pink, and flakes easily with a fork. For a 1 lb whole fillet, this should take about 20-25 minutes. For 4 oz individual fillets, bake for 12-15 minutes. Aim for an internal temperature of 135-140°F for moistness, though USDA recommends 145°F.
- Finish and Serve: Remove the salmon from the oven and squeeze fresh lemon juice from the reserved lemon ends over the top for an extra burst of flavor. Slice the whole fillet if needed and serve immediately. Store any leftovers in the refrigerator for 3-4 days.
