This easy-to-make treat combines creamy, fruity, and nutty flavors, perfect for parties, snacking, or gifting.
Ingredients
Dry Ingredients
- 9 cups Rice Chex cereal
- 1 1/3 cups powdered sugar
- 1 3/4 cups freeze dried strawberries (before blending)
Wet Ingredients
- 1 cup white chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup cashew butter
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Make Strawberry Powder: Add the freeze-dried strawberries to a food processor and pulse for 15-20 seconds until they form a fine powder. Transfer this strawberry powder into a gallon-sized Ziploc bag along with the powdered sugar. Gently shake to combine the mixture, then set aside.
- Melt Chocolate Mixture: In a large microwave-safe bowl, combine the white chocolate chips and cashew butter. Microwave in 30-second increments, stirring between each, until the mixture is completely melted and smooth. Stir in vanilla extract until evenly incorporated.
- Coat the Cereal: Add a few cups of Rice Chex cereal at a time into the melted chocolate and cashew butter mixture. Stir gently to fully coat the cereal with the creamy mixture. Repeat until all cereal is coated.
- Combine with Powdered Mixture: Pour the coated cereal into the Ziploc bag containing the strawberry powdered sugar mix. Close the bag leaving some air inside, then shake vigorously for about 30 seconds to evenly coat the cereal pieces with the sweet strawberry powder.
- Dry and Store: Spread the coated cereal onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper in a single layer. Allow it to sit at room temperature for 1-2 hours until completely dry. Once dry, store the puppy chow in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
Notes
- You can substitute cashew butter with peanut butter or almond butter if preferred.
- Make sure the cereal is fully coated to get the best flavor and texture.
- Allow the puppy chow to dry completely to avoid clumping during storage.
- Store in an airtight container to keep the snack fresh and crunchy.
- Freeze-dried strawberries powder can also be purchased pre-made to save time.
