Ingredients
Pizza Base
- 1 12-inch prepared pizza dough
- Olive oil for greasing the pan
Meat & Seasoning
- 8 oz Ground Beef
- 1 oz Taco Seasoning Packet
- ½ tsp Adobo Seasoning
- Water (a splash, if needed)
Sauces & Cheese
- ⅓ cup Taco Sauce
- ⅓ cup Sour Cream
- 1 cup Mozzarella Cheese
- 1 cup Shredded Mexican Style Cheese
Toppings
- ¼ cup Cherry Tomatoes, chopped
- 4 oz Mild Green Chilies, chopped
- ½ cup Shredded Iceberg Lettuce
Optional Extras
- Black Olives (optional)
- Green Onion, chopped (optional)
- Cilantro (optional)
- Refried Beans (optional, on the side)
Instructions
- Prepare and Par-bake the Pizza Dough: Wash and chop all pizza toppings. Preheat your oven to 500°F (260°C). Drizzle a little olive oil onto your pizza pan and spread it evenly to grease the surface. Place your prepared pizza dough on the pan and par-bake for about 5 minutes, just until it starts to brown. This step helps develop a crispy crust that holds the toppings well.
- Cook the Taco Meat: In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain excess grease. Add the taco seasoning, Adobo seasoning, and a splash of water if needed. Stir well to coat the meat evenly with the spices, and cook until fully done and fragrant.
- Assemble the Pizza: Remove the par-baked pizza dough from the oven. Spread a thin layer of taco sauce over the crust evenly, which acts as the pizza sauce. Sprinkle mozzarella cheese on top, then evenly distribute the cooked taco meat and chopped onions over the pizza. Finally, add the shredded Mexican style cheese on top of everything.
- Bake the Pizza: Place the assembled pizza back into the oven and bake for 8–10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and slightly golden, and the crust is a nice golden brown color.
- Prepare the Sour Cream Topping: While the pizza bakes, mix together ⅓ cup sour cream and 1 tablespoon taco sauce in a small bowl until smooth. This will be used as a cool, tangy topping for the pizza.
- Add Fresh Toppings and Serve: Once the pizza is done baking, remove it from the oven and immediately top with shredded iceberg lettuce, chopped cherry tomatoes, and chopped mild green chilies. Drizzle or dollop the sour cream mixture on top. Add any additional favorite taco toppings such as black olives, green onions, cilantro, or serve refried beans on the side. Slice and enjoy your taco pizza!
Notes
- Par-baking the pizza crust ensures a crispy base that holds toppings without becoming soggy.
- You can adjust the taco seasoning according to your preferred spice level.
- For a healthier alternative, use lean ground turkey instead of beef.
- Feel free to add extra toppings like jalapeños or avocado for extra flavor.
- Leftover pizza can be reheated in the oven or air fryer to maintain crispiness.
